Built for a Different Brain
Most productivity systems were designed by and for neurotypical minds. They assume consistent motivation, linear task completion, and the ability to start on demand.
For ADHD brains, none of these assumptions hold.
The ADHD Motivation System
Neurotypical motivation responds to importance and deadlines. ADHD motivation responds to:
- Interest Is this genuinely engaging right now?
- Challenge Is there a level of difficulty that creates flow?
- Novelty Is this new enough to activate dopamine?
- Urgency Is there a real, immediate consequence?
This isn't a character flaw. It's a neurological reality.
Systems That Work With Your Brain
External structure over internal willpower. Use body doubling, accountability partners, visible timers, and environmental design.
Work with your interest cycles. When something is engaging, go deep. Don't fight the hyperfocus channel it.
Reduce friction to zero. The fewer decisions required to start, the more likely you are to begin.
Celebrate completion, not perfection. ADHD brains are acutely sensitive to failure signals. Build in wins.
ADHD-Aware Coaching
I work with a number of clients who are navigating life and ambition with ADHD. The approach is different and the results, when it's tailored correctly, are remarkable.
If this resonates, I'd love to have a conversation.
